Embossed Die Cuts

I love shiny cardstock for my die cuts but wanted a wider range of colors. That is what spurred this tutorial.

Supplies Needed:

Sizzex© Die Cuts or any cut out shapes/punches
Clear Embossing Ink
Clear Embossing Powder
(can also use colored embossing powder)
Heat gun(embossing gun)
Sheet of thin cardboard like that used for a cereal box(optional
Gold or silver leafing pen(also optional)

For this I used 4 snowflake die cuts. 2 blue and 2 white. I placed on a sheet of normal typing paper.

Take each shape individually and press/wipe it on the clear embossing pad. Make sure to cover all areas.

While each shape is wet with the ink, sprinkle on the embossing powder and go on to the next shape.
On the left is clear powder and the right is silver and white. I did this before I realized
I have to sprinkle the excess back into the jars. Next time I will do all clear at one time
and all of any other color at a time. Had to carefully take a pair of scissors and cut down
the middle to separate the powders to pour back into the bottles.

Here are the shapes with the powder tapped off. Be careful not to touch the top of the shape
as you will end up wiping off the embossing powder. They are on the piece of card board and ready to be heated with the embossing gun.

You can see the shine on these. The clear allows the color of the card stock to show through.
You can see one tip on a blue snowflake where I didn't get the embossing ink. I later put ink on
that spot, covered with the powder and embossed. Worked out great.

Here I wanted shiny Christmas Lights.

I just put the clear ink on the bulb part of the die cut. Then added the clear embossing powder.

Carefully wipe away amy embossing powder off the screw part of the cut so it will not be embossed

Now heat up with the embossing gun and watch the shine jump out.

After they have cooled, taked the gold pen and color the screw part of the die cut.
You now have a beautiful Christmas lightbulb.

Here are the finished shiny cuts. This picture doesn't do them justice.
The color just pops out and looks like glass. The silver was nice but covered up the color underneath.
